I am a 3031 year old partnered lesbian who is planning trying to conceive. My partner, C, and I have agreed that we will start TTC next fall, about November 2009*. We live in NYC. We love our borough of Brooklyn. We have one naughty naughty cat. We love being aunties. We look forward to being mommies. We have been together since the day we met, May 23, 2003. We broke up for 3 weeks Jan 1, 2008 and it didn’t work. We soul searched and we’re meant to be. We’re happier than ever (it took work and open hearts)!
Why the name? I love the name Mavis. Both my family and my partner’s family dislike the name. I will be the one blogging. Mavis, she is!
I know there are many blogs about lesbians TTC, but this one will detail the mini-moments before the time comes.
* In November 2008 C and I decided to begin TTC ASAP! We’re officially on the crazy train!
Update! C and I are pregnant with a surviving twin who is due on February 14th! I hope you enjoy following along as we prepare for the arrival of our Dreambean!

Hey,
not sure if you got my email back to your comment you left. so you can email me directly about the Meet-up

Mavis is an awesome name! Mavis is one of the B-52 girls, if you know the song, at all. Can you name them today?
Thanks for stopping by fellow NY’er. I think that you have a good plan going–to save money if nothing else. I spent at least a year ‘preparing’ both financially, physically and mentally. Saving up as much money as possible, getting my body in the best shape as possible and learning everything about the TTC process made me feel very empowered (and not freaking out about your finances is priceless) about the journey ahead.
I wish you luck!
Thanks for coming by my blog! I wish you lots and lots of luck in your TTC adventure… Its nice to know that I am not alone– this journey is intensely personal, but finding others out there that relate makes it feel so much less lonely!
Oh and I am SOOOOO into the name mavis! I have a thing for retro girl ‘M’ names: mavis, mabel, marta, maude… They were all on our girl’s short list. Since we had a boy we had to settle for something else, but I still love those names.
I am going to go check out your blog but wanted to say hi first!
Hi ladies! I just noticed you linked to my blog. Thanks! I just wanted to say ‘hi’ and now I’m off to catch up on your story.
Glad you stopped by! I’ll be adding you to my blogroll as well.
Hi Jackie and Christine! I’m just checking in to say “Hi” and wish you well for your u/s tomorrow! Once I figure out how to add people to my blogroll, I’ll include yours. Good luck on the ACL surgery too, C. My partner just had that done last month and wishes she had done it earlier!
Hi! I just wanted to say I’ve enjoyed reading your blog this afternoon and plan on following your story. I don’t like to lurk so I thought I’d introduce myself. Excited to hear about Mavis and you and C’s adventure.
Good luck!
I just found your blog and I really like it. My wife and I just started one to track our TTC process. I look forward to following your journey!
